Ovie's Recklessness

Postby Duncan » Mon Mar 15, 2010 12:28 pm

What do you guys think about Ovie's hit on Campbell?

I think if Lapierre can be suspended for 4 games, Ovie can be too...

I heard campbell's likely out for the rest of the season. i am ok with the 2 game suspension. Boudreau probably doesn't mind with the caps depth now he was probably hoping to sit him a couple games down the stretch anyways, but ovie probably would have said no... now he has no choice.

Hearing all the analysis on the hit kinda makes me wonder how some of these idiots got their jobs. There's all this talk about Ovie not knowing how big and strong he is and him getting into trouble is the product of his natural instincts and talent. Give me a break, that's like saying "oh, i don't know how crazy my speed is so if i can't stop and crash the goalie, it's not my fault, it's my speed." YEESSHHH... The game of hockey dictates that you be in control of yourself at all times. If you're unaware of your own limitations then you shouldn't be playing hockey. Hi, my name is Cliff Ronning, i'm not aware of how small i am so i'm going to fight Chara and pretend that i can reach his face.

Most of the feedback I have seen just talk about how he is plays a very physical, on the edge type of game.

To me, I think he intended to make contact with campbell. He probably didn't intend to hurt him seriously but anytime you board a guy there's a chance of that. The ruling could have been possibly been a bit more, but 2 games seems reasonable, at most I could see him getting 4.. but more than that seems overboard..

Speaking of hits, anyone see the wisniewski hit on seabrook last night. That one was even worse than ovie's as it looked completely premeditated with a side of intent to injure thrown in as well. No ruling by the nhl yet.

Chicago looks to be out 2 key dman down the stretch now.. ouch.
