Turris also had a fairly dominant first season in college too, which i think is pretty comparable to what huberdeau's done this year.

Turris' dominant collegiate season came after he was drafted. If his college year was prior to his draft year then maybe it'd be comparable, but in his draft year he was fresh out of the BCHL so i'm not sure we could compare much there.

i guess upside doesn't equate to fantasy value, but sometimes i think i'd sooner pick a boom or bust player than pick a guy who'd be mediocre in the nhl. Mediocrity in fantasy leagues make middle of the pack teams.

Depth plays a pretty key role when it comes to tight races in hockey pools. It only takes one injury to a starter to have to begin to rely on your depth guys. And when you are less than 10 pts between you and your competition that "mediocre" player becomes the difference between putting up something or putting up nothing. Starters and depth each have their role to play. some are more important that others, but each has their uses. but that's just how i see it. i haven't gone a recent season in which I didnt have a single starter not get injured.

lol.. yea, picking 5 busts in a row would suck. But then again, it's not like i'm picking a 5th rounder from Swe Jr. I think i'm just comparing guys like say Huberdeau vs a guy like Landeskog.

and yea, depth matters, but imo, depth can be had very easily in our draft. I could literally pick up a depth roster this year and be better than 1/4 of our pool just from the FA's available this year. I'm not so worried about depth. Imo, i think 1st rounders are better used to pick guys who could end up being elite 1st line players. 2nd and 3rd rounders can be used to pick long shots or depth. Depth can even be found in waivers. I've picked up guys like wisniewski, antropov, streit, wheeler, and other guys in the waivers only. i think i need to pick stars then build around them after.

lol... well, not that you will get a guy, but it's a chance to try to pick one up... but hey, where you pick this year is one spot after where oz picked up skinner last year so you never know!
