Gainey steps down, Price on the move?

Postby tyson » Mon Feb 08, 2010 10:09 am

So yesterday I hear rumours of Price being shopped around, and now this morning Gainey steps down as GM. hmm....

I think a move for Halak or Price only makes both of their values go up. Even if it was to Edmonton.

well anywhere where either would be a bonafide starter, the value would go up. the 1a 1b combo doesn't do either any favors

I cannot see Montreal trading Halak to any team at this time. They are still in the playoff hunt and Halak is playing the best between the two right now. There is no chance he gets moved before the deadline.
Price is the more expendable player right now, but I assume MTL would want something pretty good in return. They do have holes in their lineup, so it could be possible. So any team acquiring Price would have to give up quite a bit. And no team is going to do that if there plan for him is a 1A/1B situation or backup.

I think Detroit is possible for a change up in net. But my guess is they go with status quo, now that they have a bunch of key guys returning they may feel that their crease concerns are less pressing.
Chicago is possible, although I think they already have a good thing going and Huet' is too difficult to move, especially to a team that already has a starter.
San Jose will ride Nabby and deal with the tender situation in the summer. There are a lot of FAs this year.
Philly Ithink will go for a goalie. I've heard a tonne of rumors talking about Turco going there for one of thier glut of forwards.

PK Subban just got called up to play tonight's game against philly... i wonder how he'll do. He's been pretty impressive so far in the farm...

He played 18:04 and 22:08 mins in the two games vs philly, has 2 assists in 2 games, 1 pp assist, 2pims, 4 sog and +1 rating... i'd say he impressed over the two games against a tough opponent in two straight losses for the team.

Granted it's only 2 games played in the NHL, this gets my hopes up. Maybe Subban was a steal in our late 2nd round...

yea, all players who could be sent down were sent down just after the last nhl games prior to the olympic ones... Not sure if he'll be called back up because he was called up to replace markov when markov went down with an undisclosed injury. Basically got markov's pp time while he was up so even if he stays up, with markov in the lineup, i dunno how much ice time he'd get then.

how about..... mike richards? haha
