Reality shows

I posed the question in this thread because I know a lot of people are very anti-reality shows, me included... until I realized that their definition of reality tv differed from mine. I used to bash reality tv, then saw someone bashing reality tv and used shows like Amazing Race and The Singoff as examples and I was like "wtf?".

Originally, like I said before, I thought reality tv were shows that gives you a voyeur point of view of someone's life, like that Paris Hilton show, the Kardashians, the one with Jessica Simpson and Nick Lechay and Big Brother (the show that started all the voyeurism shows).

actually, there was a show before big brother that started it. i forgot what it was called. the real life or something? and rumour has it there was one even earlier than that (like from the 70's) that followed a family for a couple years. the thing is that people find other people's lives interesting. that's why twitter has become so popular.

the idea of watching someone else's life doesn't bother me, some people live for it. what bothers me is that these reality shows aren't even real. they're supposed to be unscripted but they obviously are.
