transformer 3

watched this on thursday night in 3D.

it actually sort of started out promising .. those of you that have seen the trailer know the make some ties with the first landing on the moon... the mix of the historic and "the fantasy" reminiscent of what xmen:fc also pulled off quite well...

after that though, the plot seems to completely drop off... and goes back to the same old formula of the first 2.

short of some comic genius by Ken Jeong and a couple of spectacular camera sequences there is nothing that really stands out. I give the movie 2/4 (1 mark for purely for Ken Jeong, the other 1 mark for some the production value)

if you are diehard for the special affects its maybe worth it for theatres. Ken Jeong's 10 minutes almost makes it worth alone.

I also had no idea ken jeong was in the movie until i saw him.

one note regarding the 3d usage in the movie... at no point in the movie was there a cheezy scene added purely for the 3d affect as gordon mentioned in thor thread. so at least that's one good point about it. i agree with his statement against the usage of that in 3d movies. at this stage there's no need to add in specific camera sequences just for the 3D factor of it.

i don't think they need 3d in any movie. it's weird, it's all the rage now but i never heard anyone say that they actually enjoy 3d before.

"3D" seems to be turning into a warning, "This movie sucks so we made it 3d for cheap thrills."

i am ok with 3d and the continual pushing of technological boundaries when it comes to visual media, lets face it... the only way we get to the point that they can make a holodeck is by trying constantly pushing new tech

3d has definitely come along way in the past decade or two, so there has been significant progress. i am not usually one to watch a 3d movie when there's a non 3d version available, but i see the merit in them continuing to make movies in 3d and the movie industry backing the technology.

Haha, holodeck... I never thought about that. If 3D technology is a stepping stone towards that, then maybe I should be more supportive!

so one my youth saw this movie AGAIN. i have a feeling he'll watch it a couple more times yet. i told him to stop going, or he's going to make them think that they did a good job. and he's like, "so should i stop coming to church too?"
