Uhhh.. that was a whole bucket load of MAGIC coming into Storybrook. They'll all have their memories, and their powers, but in our world now.

they already have their memories now. i wonder if they're still stuck in storybrooke though.

Since there's magic now, the Hatter can teleport everyone back, one at a time.

no, if one goes through, then one has to come back. they can go back for a pre-rationed period of time though.

If one goes through, one CAN come back, but I don't think they have to come back though.
Worst case scenario, they can just send some nobody person back in their place.

then the portal will be open forever, i'd think.

Why would it matter if the portal is open forever though? As long as it doesn't pull you back against your will, then it can stay open forever for all anyone cares.

i think it takes an amount of magic to keep it open. and also, the hat will be stuck in one place, unable to be used to travel to other distant and interesting lands.

they will no longer be able to explore new worlds, new civilizations, they won't be able to bold go where no man has gone before.

I would've actually likened it to ST: Voyager with the wormholes and such.
