my thoughts on sc2.
the single player campaign is worth the purchase price. it's a great game just standalone, great production quality. you somewhat take it for granted when you play only good games... but a lot of other publishers don't take out the time blizzard does to really flush out a game and get all the details right. No bugs, no crashes, quality graphics/sounds/gameplay/etc...
multiplayer - is great for the "hardcore" player, the one that will want to play ladder games and work on all the minutia of his game. the depth of strategy that can be involved in this game is pretty extensive. the problem is for the casual player who can only really spend maybe 5 hours a week playing, its less appealing. there are a lot of custom maps where there's more easy, quick fun, but it's a bit time intensive finding a fun map to play. also the funnest thing about multiplayer for me is getting to play with friends i know... nowadays ppl are just too busy to get their regular game-on...
2011 is supposed to be a great year for video games actually.
diablo3, dragon age2, mass effect3, marvel v capcom3, crysis 2, dues ex: 3, dead space2, batman: arkhamcity, metal gear solid: rising, star wars: the old republic, infamous2...
so if you can wait a bit there will be some great games coming out..
