So it's our 3 year anniversary and Alicia and i figured we'd go out for dinner and a movie (awesome i know).

Anyways, are there any good movies out there right now? i know some of you saw Battle: LA, but is there anything else you'd recommend? i'm thinking of catching Paul. That movie looks kinda funny. The movie Limitless looks kinda meh, haven't heard much about it.

Anyone see Rango or heard anything about it... i have no idea what it's about besides reading the synopsis online.

Someone told me paul is pretty good, might wanna check that out.

Battlefield LA is so so... not a very good movie but you're getting what you expect. American navy seals unit vs aliens saving the world.

I'm going to see spike and mikes sick and twisted tomorrow night. LOL WANNA DOUBLE DATE? (notsrs)

a quick glance at my cineplex app tells me that metro has CRAP for movies.
richmond, however, has a few that might want to check out:
hall pass - looks funny to me, might be a good date movie
just go with it - perfect date movie however i heard it sucked
the king's speech - can't go wrong with something that won so many awards
unknown - winnie and i actually saw this. not bad but the ending was retarded


and of course:
JUSTIN BIEBER NEVER SAY NEVER - EXPECT TO GET SOME AFTER WATCHING THIS MOVIE. GUARANTEED.

Apparently "Hobo with a Shotgun" opens on Friday.

I saw a commercial for this movie called Suckerpunch. It looked kinda cool.

suckerpunch looked interesting... another sin city kinda thing...

anyways, we didn't end up watching anything last night. Just went to a nice dinner at Trattoria on W 4th. Had gift cards that Brendon and his gf gave us for xmas so we decided to use it. All in all it was a pretty good eat. Prices aren't super expensive. 12-18 bucks for pasta dishes, but yesterday was $10 Pasta tuesdays. Pretty good deal. Appie + one glass of wine + two pasta dishes + two desserts + hst + 15% tip came out to $70... not bad for a nice but not too fancy place to eat...

is it a busy place?

i was going to suggest suckerpunch but i heard that it wasn't that good.

yea the restaurant was pretty busy. we had to wait like 10 min for a seat and we got there at 6:15. Although it could've been super busy because it was pasta tuesdays. If you go on a tuesday, i suggest you get there no later that 6:00. It's actually part of a bigger group of restaurants called the Glowbal group. They have like 4 other different restaurants downtown. we decided to go to this one because i hate going downtown and this was the only place that wasn't downtown.

suckerpunch doesn't come out til tomorrow anyways i think? you know what i realised, movies that don't come out between june-august suck... haha... i can't remember a movie in recent months that has been worth watching...

Italian Kitchen is pretty much the same. Their kobe meatballs are very good. There's roof top parking at Trattoria so makes it easier.

the fighter came out in recent months and that was pretty good imho.

yeah there is usually a group of "critically acclaimed" type movies that get released during december/january months for build up to the academies... and the "blockbuster" type movies are saved for the summer when they can get the most market possible. I would include the month of may in there too.

thinking of watching a movie tonight with alicia... probably either paul or rango. I read that suckerpunch was pretty lame... paul and rango have been getting some decent reviews... which one to go to?

ended up catching Paul last night.. it was alright. 7.5/10 imo...

It's done by the same guys as Hot Fuzz. it's kinda like brit humor so the jokes and bits are a little dry. It's not bad, and it had it's moments. If there's nothing better to watch, then it's a decent choice...
