Just got back from this movie.
OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's a movie that cannot be watched with interruptions or distractions. Watch it in the theatre, or don't bother. Not for those who are queesy in the stomach. It was stylized filmmaking at its finest. There was an '80s feel to it that made it all that much more appealing for me. That and the fact that it was a total 180 from what I was expecting. It really brought back thoughts of DeNiro and Taxi Driver to me. It won't crack my top 50 of all time mind you, but it was something that I hadn't seen in a Looooooog time, probably another reason that I enjoyed it so much.
All that being said, let me warn you that I think most people of your generation just won't get it, and will hate it. Don't bother bringing the wife.

Not queasy in the stomach? Does that mean there's a lot of camera movement that will make me motion sick? Or does that mean there's a lot of gore in it?

saw it opening day.
Was ok, very akward, unbelievable and boring at times but I knew what they were trying to get at. Its something different, kinda cool in a way.
I'd give it a 3/5. Seems like they tried a little bit too hard.

ryan gosling was on conan last week, but i just saw the episode today when i was catching up on my tv. man alive that interview was funny.
but apparently gosling chose his own director, and when he met with him the interview sucked, and so he was like, forget it i'm just going home. but the director guy was like, "ok, but you need to give me a ride because i can't drive". and gosling was like "wtf how can you make a movie about driving if you can't even drive?" lol.

k, saw this tonight. brought the wife lol. it wasn't bad. i like how it had a fight club/american beauty feel to it. artsy, and deep plot.
but it definitely needed way more car chase scenes. 1.5 car chases isn't enough for the movie to be called drive. it was just like transporter all over again.

I don't see the deep plot or American Beauty and Fight Club feel of it. I actually really didn't enjoy this movie at all. I found the dialogue sloppy and annoying. Those awkward (dramatic) pauses made the movie unbearable at times.
I see the throwbacks to 80's movies, but it didn't make the movie better for it.

to me i saw the plot as a struggle of fast and slow. gosling's character is known for high adrenaline stunts but yet he lives his life at a very slow pace. and there was the struggle between control and chaos, much like in transporter but done way better.
at least that's what i got out of it.

I got the contrasting character traits, but that's a pretty basic movie trick. I wouldn't call it "deep" though because that was the main theme of the movie that was made painfully obvious, like you'd miss it if they didn't over-emphasize it through the dramatic pauses.
Sorry, I guess it's probably just not my kinda movie
