Hunger games was not bad. I didn't read the book but the movie was pretty entertaining. Some pretty cheesy parts but i suppose that's what you get when you make a movie out of a teenager targeted novel.
Jai/Coleen did say the movie missed out on a lot that was in the book, but i suppose you could say that about 99% of the movies out there based on a novel.
I hafta give it a 6 in 7/27... it's not quite a sure fire thing, and you could be beat by the over, but it's still a pretty good hand with room to improve if you want to risk taking another card

The parts that were omitted were difficult to relay without actually running an internal dialog throughout. That would probably prove to be too distracting. I think that the screenplay did well with the limitations of the medium.
I'd go so far to say that you have a very strong 6, made up of a 5 and an A so the risk/reward aspect is even more intriguing with the possibility of drawing a second A.

Quick rant / summary that pretty much sums up all novel -> movie adaptations. If you can't surrender to the fact that the mediums differ in what they have to offer, then you'll end up being a purist like Corris, and will pretty much ruin every movie going experience for yourself.

Yeah, I'm wondering how the movie will interpret all of Katniss's internal struggles and her PTSD/insanity later on in the series.

Saw it, it was ok.... Didn't read the books though. Entertainment value of about 6.5 which isnt bad. I was just expecting more out of it since everyone and their moms were hyping this movie up.
Too slow, they tried to play up the artistic side a little too much. I get it.... Capitol is full of rich self centered snooty people with lots of make up kinda like Toronto. I really dont care for long drawn out scenes trying to illustrate the differences between the poor districts and the capitol. I'd rather you blow your budget on more cool fighting and hunting scenes.
It was a bit too predictable also. Nothing really suprised me, from story, to action scenes.
Casting was good though, Peeta was a bit unbelievable but so was their relationship....
I give it a 6.5/10.... Would probably watch part 2 if they have a part 2.

so you give it a 6.5? lol
i find all movies are predictable. if the good guys win at the end, you'll see it coming. if they don't, well, you can see that coming too. the only movies that really surprised me were the m. knight salamander whatever movies, and they weren't in a good way (except for sixth sense, that was good).

It was predictable in more ways than just the conclusion........ You knew who was going to hook up with who and why, you knew what conflicts were going to come up and how they were going to be resolved. You knew it was lenny kravitz and not will smith or morgan freeman...........
