so as i like to do... i've been trying to come up with new and different types of cash games to play... and was thinking it might help to get some feedback on how to tweak them for optimal fun and donkeyness action... if you have new games/rules in mind you want some thoughts on feel free to add them too...

the latest i've been thinking about is a type of tag-team play rule to a game... i've been thinking about it towards perhaps hold'em and omaha.
so basically it would start like a regular game, but at the point when a player wishes to fold their own hand, they have an option to tag-team instead. the general rules for tag-teaming is that they pass their cards to another player of their choice. that player has an option to accept once viewing their cards but has to make pick the best pocket cards from that hand or decline if they want to continue with their own cards.
going forward the active player would have complete control of the hand and any bets made based on that hand. the inactive player would have a choice to continue by matching the active player or folding completely out of the game. any pot won by that hand is split evenly between both players. If the inactive player decides not to match any bet, he forfeits any pot won by that hand. each player can only be tagged a maximum of one time per hand.
one aspect i was still trying to figure out is whether or not all the other players should be matching the combined bet of a tagteamed hand or just just the active player's bet...
I want to make it have enough incentive for players to want to tag each other, but not to make it completely unfair to "untagged players". thoughts or suggestions?

I was also thinking about another game themed on hockey... still thinking up all the rules and such, but thinking maybe it'd be a 6 handed game, with each card representing a position on the ice (5 skaters, 1 goalie).
I was trying to work it maybe as counting game with something like shot/blocks/saves or something... but couldn't work it out exactly without it being to simple. maybe make it like win 2/3 categories like korean poker with 3 catgories being forwards/defense/goalie...
still mulling it over, but if you have any good ideas to build on this, i'm all ears.

I was thinking up a game after that whole thing with Mike's "got it" story.
It's kinda in development still though.
Basically, everyone is dealt a face up card valued between 2-6, then the remaining cards are shuffled, and everyone is dealt a face down card. There will also be a board dealt out in 4 or 5 rows of six cards each row.
After each betting round, one row of cards is revealed. The purpose being, after each row is revealed, you will have a better feel of whether or not the other person's "got it".
I also thought we could add in an option to buy an additional face down card.
I think this game might work better if it's no limit.

i was thinking about a game like hold'em but you HAVE to use only one of your hole cards. so it's like omaha but dealt hold'em style.
maybe add another card to the community.
oh, and we played it on friday and it didn't seem to work.

so i tried out the tag-team at jai's last time we played poker for jt's bday. it went ok, a lot of betting b/c of the double stacks, but i didn't implement the card passing along with the betting.
maybe i'll try that next time... the betting gets pretty heavy tho', so perhaps i should make it limit.

did you play exactly as you described or did you tweak it a bit?

we tried it again last week and oh man, there were some epic tag team fails... jai kept throwing away winning cards just to accept joel's tag team cards...
lols... he threw away 7,8 pre flop and the flop came out something, something, 8... then the turn... 7.... then the river... 8... lol

I tagged with Joel and I threw away a 10, and he threw away a 10 and there were two 10's on the board. (Omaha hi/lo)
That was epic fail too.

we've played two variations so far:
one purely on tagging for betting strength. doubling the tagged player's bet.
one on tagging for card trading blind, only matching the tagged player's bet.
both variations seem ok, but I am thinking now that the original idea may work the best, the one folding just gives all his cards to the player he tags, and he gets to choose the best pocket hand out of all the cards, rather than doing it blind. and match betting seems the way to go.
based on my experiences so far, double betting is too great of an advantage (especially if there is no-limit), and blind trading is too little of an advantage. so i think pick and choose trading is maybe that sweet spot in the middle. there needs to be just enough incentive to trade, but not so much too make it wildly unfair.
