Anyone picking this game up when it comes out? I don't want to shed 70 bucks for a game that'll only slightly be different than the version last year.
If anyone has any hook ups to get it for the inhouse EA $20 price, I may possible be open to that. Any one have any EA connections?
There's also the new Wii game for hockey NHL Slapshot... for you non PS3/Xbox owners

Played the demo. Seemed pretty sweet. Among the enhancements are:
-Better physics overall especially with hitting (hip checks)
-Breaking your stick or having it knocked out of your hands. (a stick on the ice also is a part of the physics of the game, potentially deflecting a pass or shot), a player without a stick can also kick the puck to a teammate, get a stick from another teammate or the bench..
-New faceoff engine. Tying up the other guys stick or bodying him out. Shooting off the draw, etc..
-Skate dekes and jumping move/deke?
-knocking the puck down or catching it. I always found the lack of this annoying in NHL10.. the player seemed to rarely catch a puck mid air. The puck also seems less bouncier, but maybe that is just me.
-Shorter Load Times!!! Took about 8 seconds on the load screen. i think they halved it from NHL10.
-HUT mode (hockey's ultimate team) which seemed pretty fun.
Things taken out seem to be:
-Protect the puck move (guess it was underutilized in NHL10?)

I got my $20 over to our resident EA guy. (PS3). I probably won't have that much time to play so you can have my copy. And I can give you back your Heavy Rain while I'm at it.

Brendon just bought it at costco.. Played one game with him. Pretty much the same game play as nhl 10, but strangely enough, it feels slower. Oh how i long for the days of boost. Anyways, physics are nicer but i haven't played enough of it to do a just review of it. Either way, it doesn't seem like a huge improvement from last year's iteration.

Yeah, they have slowed down both the skating and passing. Apparently, it made 2010 unrealistic whipping passes around like crazy, etc... I think both of those are still adjustable anyways.
The changes aren't huge, but after playing with those additions especially the physics + hitting... i think it would be tough for me to play without it.

Lots of improvements.. I like how stick lifting doesn't make the other player useless for a full second anymore. Unless you lift it out of his hands haha. And ai can actually score on breakaways now lol. So far I like it
