I think I figured out what happened to our pot last night.
I think someone took $20 worth of chips but mistakenly pulled out a $5 bill and thought it was a $20 bill and put it into the pot.

This makes sense. When I cashed out I was looking for a 5 dollar bill in the pot but there was only one.

And I only had a 20 and a 5 in my wallet to begin with. The 5 went to snacks hahaha easy to keep track when you are poor.

it's possible but didn't joel say he put in a 10 and 2 5's? then there should have been 3 5's in the pot.
i know when i cashed out $15 i took a 10 and a 5 no problem.

i put in 4 x 5 dollar bills.

I took two of them back and there was also one that went to the house. Dave was thinking that maybe the stacks of chips that went out was stacks of 10 instead of 8...

It could be a possibility that we were given wrong chip stacks.

$75 chips/6 = $12.50 = 2 red, 2 white, 2 blue.

I put in a $20 bill, then a $50 for JT, took back a $20 and $10 for change.

I took back the $50 and another $20. I had the $5, but gave it to Joel who gave it to the house. I think JT took a $5 and so did Nat. So that makes five $5 bills? Maybe someone did put in $5 instead of $20.

Who bought in more than once? I didn't and I paid for JT's 2nd buy in.

i only bought in once, and i'm pretty sure that i put in a 20. joel watched me, so if i was retarded enough to pull out a 5 by mistake, he should have caught it too, no?

i bought in twice, and i had 45 bucks to start the night... i gave $5 to JT for snacks... and i walked out the door that night with zero... so i'm clean... cleaned out... did someone just not throw in their buy in at all? i dunno, still hard to explain the missing $15... i think we should institute a new rule and have everyone buy in up front at the beginning... and if you're coming in with an IOU, then you write it down and we stick it into the cash pot.

And if you're rebuying you always need to get someone to verify your stack. It sucks that we've come to this but it seems like this keeps happening. And we should verify stacks at the beginning. Sucks that we have to take a pitboss approach but it just seems like we keep messing up.
i really should be working

really? from my recollection, this is only the second time the pot ever was off. every other time something went wrong was due to a miscalculation on our part counting our chips. and the first time the pot was off i think it was only by $2 or something.

and there was one time that i remember grabbing the wrong amount for my stack. but at least i remembered.

another option when/if this happens again we can just quickly count the chips and see if that's the problem. it didn't even occur to me to check the chip count on friday.

I bought in 2 1/2 times.. 2 x $20 bill, and 1 x $10 bill that Nathan owed me.

I think Dave's explanation makes more sense actually... maybe we set up the chips wrong in the beginning.

6 stacks with 2 blue, 2 white and 2 reds more than it should = $15

I'm such a nerd.

ok...for simplicity I'm going to combine Nat and JT's totals.

I had 375 in chips. Joel had 300. JT and Nat had 350 in chips.

The first $120 (675 in chips / 3 = 225 ($40)). So after each of us take $40 back, that leaves 150 chips for me, 75 for Joel, and 125 for JT/Nat.

So that's $30 more for me, $15 for Joel, and $25 for JT/Nat.

Dave = $70, Joel = $55, JT/Nat = $65

I took $75 and then gave back $5 to Joel. He only took $50. So we should be even there.

JT should have only taken $52.50, and Nat should have taken $12.50 only ($75 in original buy in chips). So Nat/JT took an extra $5, which would have been the extra chips in the middle that didn't get claimed. Joel gave the $5 I gave him to the house, so Nat/JT owe Joel $5.

JT actually got a slightly better deal b/c his 2nd $20 he got back was for only $100 in chips, since Nat offset his own buy in. (or you can view it that JT took some of the chips from the left over pile).

okay...with that being said. The $5 bills don't add up.

Joel put in four $5 bills. I took one, JT took one, Joel took 2, Nat took 1. That makes 5.

JT took a $10, Nat took a $10. I took a $10 and $20 and put in a $50 for JT's 2nd buy in. I took the $50 back after.

If I've accounted for everyone's buy ins: $120 + $60 2nd buy ins (JT, Dunc, G) + G's 1/2 buy in ($10) = $190

I took $70, $5 to house, JT $55, Nat $15, Joel $50. That makes $195?!?!?!

how did we end up with another $5??? Did someone forget a buy in and only put in $5? Now this makes more sense. Or is there $15 sitting around somewhere in G's house?
