I'm such a nerd.
ok...for simplicity I'm going to combine Nat and JT's totals.
I had 375 in chips. Joel had 300. JT and Nat had 350 in chips.
The first $120 (675 in chips / 3 = 225 ($40)). So after each of us take $40 back, that leaves 150 chips for me, 75 for Joel, and 125 for JT/Nat.
So that's $30 more for me, $15 for Joel, and $25 for JT/Nat.
Dave = $70, Joel = $55, JT/Nat = $65
I took $75 and then gave back $5 to Joel. He only took $50. So we should be even there.
JT should have only taken $52.50, and Nat should have taken $12.50 only ($75 in original buy in chips). So Nat/JT took an extra $5, which would have been the extra chips in the middle that didn't get claimed. Joel gave the $5 I gave him to the house, so Nat/JT owe Joel $5.
JT actually got a slightly better deal b/c his 2nd $20 he got back was for only $100 in chips, since Nat offset his own buy in. (or you can view it that JT took some of the chips from the left over pile).
...my meager skills were no match for his devastating...
