he announced that he won't be hosting or even playing poker anymore.

It was a bit of a rant....

But here's the Coles notes.

To Sum it up, he didn't want his down time to be on a clock. Work is stressful enough with watching deadlines and customers pushing him to make the clock. He didn't want that translated to his leisure time as well so he's decided to give up poker all together. It wasn't worth the headaches of the fallout upon coming home too late or us staying there too late.

We were asked to not bring up poker with him anymore.

lol, i don't remember reading about all the work stuff, but from what i remember the thread title was "i'm done" or something and he just said he was going to find another pasttime because playing poker until the wee hours of the night wasn't going to cut it anymore, i guess he has a curfew now. he also said never to expect any kind of poker from him or his household. even if we're there for another reason, it won't happen.

oh, and he's giving away his chips and table (or something like that).

i say we just play in the afternoon now. limit it to 2 hours, bring the wives and kids, and we'll make a field trip out of it.

Well... if we're limiting it to two hours, then you nerdz are going to have to cut down on all the side chatter and distractions or we'll only get in 6 hands and maybe 2 rounds of anything.

And if we have to cut down on all the side chatter, then what's the point? I'd just go to a casino then. All your stupid ancedotes is half the reason I go to play.

Dave seems pretty determined, maybe we should support him in his effort to quit poker. It's not just for his sake.

Besides, wasn't Dave saying that he doesn't want to be on a time limit when he's having leisure time?

maybe dave did say stuff about time limits, but not on the forums or to me personally, so i don't know.

hey, here's an idea, maybe someone should give dave a call. haha.

i was thinking afternoon poker was a good idea for a while anyway. it makes it easier on the families and better chance for some to come out. i know if it weren't for poker, i'd probably never see a bunch of you guys.

I think maybe we should find something new to do... I'm not saying give up poker, but supplement it.
It's because we play poker almost exclusively as an activity that I don't get to see a bunch of other people (i.e. any friends of the female gender).

I am game for other activities as well.
