PC modder guru?

I've been trying to sell a Quadro FX3700 vid card for about a month now, but no hits. I've been contemplating keeping this card, but it's made for professional 3D graphics designers and not for gaming.

I heard this card is a rebranded geForce 8800GTX though, so the main differences is in the drivers.

Anyone know how I can softmod this card back into an 8800GTX?

why do you want to soft mod it to a geForce. wouldn't it run games just as well with a quadro driver?

No, the Quadro card drivers are tailored for 3D imaging and not gaming performance. Although it'll run games fine and even look great, it will be a lot slower than a geforce would be.

I was originally selling for $600 which was half off MSRP. Then I brought it down to $450, then $350 and now it's at $250.

For overclocking. Can't you just install the 8800gtx drivers instead of the quadro ones? Seems like everyone is trying to turn the 8800gtx into quadro and not vice versa.

Yeah, I know because the Quadro card is more expensive, so they want to get a cheaper 8800GTX and turn it into a Quadro.
I got my hands on a dirt cheap Quadro card, so I'm trying to do it the other way around.

I can't just install the geForce drivers because the drivers won't recognize the Quadro bios as a geForce card and it won't install. The hardware is the same, but the onboard bios firmware is different.

Just take the instructions for going 8800GT --> FX 4700. And do the reverse of what it says.

I think the extra performance you end up with may not be worth all the effort in doing it... I cant see the performance to be more than maybe a 15% difference..

I think it'll be easier to change your hobby from gaming to graphics/animation, than it will be to soft-mod your workstation card to a consumer card.

yeah, why not take up some 3d animation and create a 3d poker interface so we can play online.
