so i'm thinking about going a different route here at the church office. i need a working, decently powered desktop computer. just a few requirements:
-it works
-a pc (no mac shall enter this office...actually many have already, but i'd still prefer a pc)
-able to run at least xp
-at least 4 usb ports
and that's basically it. i don't need a mouse, keyboard, monitor, speakers or even any cables, just the tower and stuff inside. i'd prefer a clean hdd, but if you wanted to leave a secret password protect file of pr0n i probably wouldn't blame you.
our church barely has money to pay me my lucrative salary, so i'm not willing to pay anything. i will issue you a gift receipt though, which is good for 5 tax years. let me know what you got.

I have a 1.6ghz netbook that runs Windows 7 Pro just fine.
It has 3 USB ports, but if you need more, you can add a USB hub for $10 and have like 12 powered USB ports.
You can also plug in a monitor through the VGA port and plug in your own mouse and keyboard if you'd like. It'll run better than any old PC that you someone would donate.
$250 obo

i may have a desktop i can give you in the next few months. i think it's about 4-5 years old but it's running xp mce fine. I use it mainly as a media centre machine connected to my tv right now but i'm going to replace that with my better desktop soon. Thinking of taking out the desk in our room to make room for the crib. It has 2gb of ram and an AMD athlon 3700 cpu. i think it has everything you need and more. how big of a tax receipt can you write me? heh

i can give you fair market value. if they question it (like if i give you a receipt for $1k for that computer), we could lose our charity status.
i don't know what a computer like that would go for. $150?

tigerdirect.ca offers barebones computers for about $200.. sometimes they don't have a video card or onboard video tho'. but you can usually pick up a budget video card for 15-30 bucks somewhere.
i have a dell laptop in which the screen doesn't work (but i guess it don't matter if you use it as a desktop. core2duo probably about 7 years old, but it had some pretty high end stuff in it at the time. and the dvd drive doesn't really work that well... dunc's old computer is probably better than this though. i'm not sure.
