i was thinking of getting joyce a heartrate monitor/gps watch for her running for christmas, any suggestions? I don't know what is good.

Cool, good luck with your watch. I loved my first gps watch (garmin). I'm a little less satisfied with my second one, but it's still pretty cool.

Oh, I thought I'd mention... I had a friend that tried out her watch with the heartrate monitor but the strap ended up chafing her quite badly. She tried it a couple of times but ended up giving up on it as well. It would seem that women are more prone to chafing due to the strap than men.

Just food for thought.

i was looking at the ones listed on the timex website, but i can't really make heads or tails out of any of it.

this could be thread jacking but if she likes to listen to music while running the ipod nano is perfect for that. built in clip, super small form factor (no bulk whatsoever), and it has different running apps (not sure about heartrate monitor... i doubt it though).
