It depends on the cause of the bp problem.
Secondary hypertension is when the high blood pressure is a symptom of another health issue, like high cholesterol, kidney disease, being overweight, etc. You can take meds to lower the bp in these cases, but if you fix the primary health issue, then your bp will normalize.
Then there's primary hypertension where high blood pressure is caused directly by your circulatory system and is usually genetic. Things like narrow blood vessels or thicker than normal blood. In these cases, there's usually no way to fix the problem and you'll have to take bp meds your whole life.
Hopefully my weight issue is what's causing the high bp and I won't have to take meds my whole life.
