i know of a foot doctor in oakridge that my doctor recommended (but probably more out of proximity than anything else). they say anything related to the foot should be checked by a foot specialist and not general practitioners.

unfortunately, to get an appointment with a podiatrist, you need to be referred by a GP. so shaun's got to ask his doc to get referred to your doc. such is the way of our public health care

my doctor told me i didn't need one (but he gave me one anyway). he said something along the lines of those rules having changed. you might just need a referral for it to be covered, but he said even that is iffy now.
this was just about 2 months ago.

oh, maybe it's changed since i last saw a specialist. I actually went to see a podiatrist because i had foot problems too. But when i did, i was notified that MSP does not cover podiatry treatments/exams anymore. You have to pay out of your pocket and hope that your extended medical covers it. My single 30 minute exam cost me like $350... wtf eh?

holy crap. i should check if my plan covers it. my foot issue isn't huge, so i might not even bother anyway.

I haven't gotten it checked out. I originally thought it was just a minor thing that would go away in a couple of days. Then weeks and months went by. I suspect my chiropractor would be able to help, but everything costs money. Sacrifices are being made.

I sprained(?) my thumb playing that last game of volleyball a couple of weeks ago. It was really minor... I mean, I kept playing the game and everything, but it was quite sore for a few days after. Now... well... now it pretty much feels like my foot.

hopefully it'll work for you. my last (and first) bout with a chiro a couple months ago now didn't exactly cure me as i had hoped.

chiros don't cure anything imo. they kinda just give you temp relief... i could be wrong since i've never gone myself, but from what i've heard from people i know who go, they have to go back every other week for continual treatment.

it depends on who you go to and what is getting treated, from what i hear.

The guy's familiar with running related issues and can set me up with orthotics if he deems them necessary.

Other than surgery, which I'm not interested in at this point, not sure what more a podiatrist would have to offer.
