x-train = cross-training = biking. Everything else is running.

This week has been (and will continue to be) a bit of a bust but I did manage an 18km run today. The first 15 were slow and easy and the last 3 were quicker.

Ran a couple more times during the holidays (5+10), but it was tough to get motivated to go running when it's -6C and snowing.
So far this week I ran an easy 17km at slightly faster than marathon pace on Monday and a soaking wet hilly 10km yesterday with the RunningRoom.
Signed up with a RunningRoom clinic yesterday and I'm hoping that it'll be worth it.

According to my schedule I'm supposed to also do a 22km this week (week 4), but it seems like I have some sort of injury in my right toe (self diagnosed sesamoiditis?). Whatever it is, I'm hoping it'll go away soon.

you probably should go see a doctor with the amount of running you do.
i wouldn't want it to get worse.

I have a chiro appointment in a month so if it's not better by then, I'll bring it up to him.

Since my last update I ran:
Saturday - 22.85 km. Slow and easy. Could have kept going... which was the intent of the slow pace.
Sunday - 13km. Slow and easy... which wasn`t all that easy after Saturday`s run.
Tuesday - 6km. A bit quicker than my past few runs. Basically half marathon pace.
Wednesday - 10km. Ran my third fasted 10km. A comfortably hard effort.

Another long run (25-26km) is planned for Saturday, but we`ll see how I feel and what the weather`s like. I might just do the 13km run with the Running Room on Sunday instead.

Since my last update:
Saturday = 25km. Legs started to get sore around the 23km mark. The pace was both slower and faster than race pace, which basically means the running was relatively fast, but because of all of red lights, it just didn't seem like I was able to make up any ground.
With the lights I was on pace for a 3:53 marathon.
Taking the lights out of the picture, I was on pace for a 3:45 marathon.

Sunday - Took a day off from running to recover from the long run on Saturday. Biked to church instead. (20km return)
Tuesday - Quick 6km @ what I hope will be my 10km race pace by the end of the year. (4:30 / km)
Wednesday - Moderate 10km. Nothing special. Took it easy on my shins.

The plan for this Saturday is to try a 28km run. Considering that 32km is the maximum recommended training distance for the 42.2km marathon, this run would be substantial. If I can get'er done, I will be taking a few weeks off from the uber long runs as I transition from following my training schedule to the Running Room's training schedule.

I may need to change the time of day that I go on my runs. Been doing a lot of running in the dark lately and it seems the blues have been striking harder and more frequently. I may need to try and get more sun.

man, that's awesome that you can be so determined to run the way you do.
hope the running room's schedule works out for you, and that you find the ideal time for you to run. but don't worry, the days are getting longer and so the window of opportunity (as in, the time the sun is out) is growing too.

Yeah, I've been doing quit a bit of running along there lately. It kinda sucks 'cause it's so windy due to the traffic, but at least there are relatively few lights to deal with.

Ran 28km on Saturday. Looking forward to a few 'easy' weeks.

And now the real marathon training begins. Only two of the next eleven Sundays are supposed to be less than 23km. 26, 19, 29, 29, 32, 23, 29, 32, 23, 6, 42.2.

Ran a straight, flat and very boring 22.5 km from Byrne Road to a little past Cambie along Kent and back today.

Hoping my cough goes away soon.

Oh man, you were running marathon distances in the rain while you have a cold? That's dedication!

Good luck! This sounds like awesome progress!

Well, this has been a horrible month. Between getting the flu and then pulling both my calves, I was hardly able to run at all. I feel almost better now, but man... I feel really behind.

The long run this Sunday is supposed to be an easy 19km. At this point that sounds incredibly far. I have no idea how I'm supposed to manage 29km the following Sunday.

I think I'm screwed. :(
