ok, i finally got around to measuring my fat ass.
not sure if i'm doing it right, but i measured 36 inches around my belly button (standing up straight, slouching adds an inch). just weighed myself with my digital scale and got 189.2 two times in a row wearing sweats and tshirt. according to i'm "large frame" and my ideal body weight for my height is 161-184 (yay, i'm 5lbs overweight).

goal:
drop to 32-33 inches around my belly button (my ideal waist is 31.8499 according to )
drop to 175lbs (so gaining 9lbs after will still put me in the healthy side)
have large pectoral muscles (a la ren from ren and stimpy)

target date:
everyone seems to be looking at may 2011, so i guess i will too. may 31, 2011 (winnie's 31st birthday lol)

methods:
watch what i eat (yeah right, who am i kidding)
seriously, try to watch what i eat, cut down on snacks, pop, and drink buttloads of water, maybe even start bringing lunch (so i'll actually eat lunch and/or avoid going to wendy's for lunch), ease up on fast foods
wake up at the latest 8:00 (aim for 7:00... i hear sleeping in is a fat builder)
stationary bike for 30 minutes 4-5 times a week (i may not be able to on my days off)
total gym for those large pectoral muscles 4-5 times a week (whenever i'm on the stationary)
watch an episode of star trek during each workout (just kidding)

not sure if those methods will get me where i want to get, but it's better than just sleeping in.
tips/advice welcome.

Good Luck...

Getting from a 36 to 32 in under 6 months on the program you listed will require that you do a little more that just 'try' on the watching what you eat part... unless you step up the calorie burning activities. Just trying to help you go in fully informed :)

Stationary bike 4-5 times a week is going to get really boring really fast...
Group activities are fun and a good way to keep each other accountable.

Maybe we can find a high cardio sport we can all play once or twice a week to supplement our boring jogging/biking routines.

Nothing will work your cardio like competitive soccer or ball hockey.

just an option, I'd run if someone were playing that game with me..................... I'd lose soo much weight if it was ben johnson playing.

I think if it was Ben Johnson playing with you, you'd probably get caught pretty quick, so you'd lose no weight.

does screaming for dear life count as cardio?

lol, how did my thread turn into the offtopic forum?

i'll have my music with me when i bike so it'll be ok. and like shaun said when i bought it off him, it's quiet enough to watch an episode of star trek. if i get really bored i can just do that.

i ran on the treadmill consistently everyday for almost 2 months, and that thing was loud as heck (i.e. you couldn't do anything else while on that thing but run), so it shouldn't be too bad.

oh, and i plan on sucking in my gut when i measure at the end of 6 months, so i should be all good.

ok so far everything is pretty much fail at this point.
slept in two days in a row, had to rush to work with no time for workout, had three sizeable helpings of spaghetti for dinner, and i missed breakfast and have no plans (or time) for lunch.

fail.

well you still have lots of time to recover... it's hard to change your lifestyle overnight. But just keep working at it, in my opinion it's much better to keep trying even if you end up binging on junk or missing a work out one day. Overall you'll make progress if you keep trying to start up as soon as you can and not let the discouragement get to you.
