Michelin Star restaurants

I have a michelin guide on the GPS app of my nokia phone. Never bothered looking at what it was till now, I thought it was to find closest tire stores lol.

I once went to this restaraunt in Shanghai that refilled your drink every time it was half, had clear plastic bags to keep your cell phones cleaned, would also clean your cellphone for you (take it apart and swab it) and had a nail salon too while you wait for your food.

are all those star rating things rigged anyway?
i heard (at least in asia) that restaurants can pay for higher ratings. it'll draw the customers in and by then it's too late.

and that restaurant that keian went to sounds awesome. i'd leave a tip there.

So I took the team out to Market last Friday, and I have to say that I was only somewhat impressed with the place. Our server was not up to the level that I would expect for a private room party at a Jean Georges establishment. The Sommelier was excellent though.

My Lamb was perfectly done, no complaints there. My starter scallops were 'ok', but the presentation was a bit messy. The poached pear was good, but not fantastic.

Overall, not worth the $1400 bill in my opinion.

Too bad my guys are so anti Chinese food. The wife's Christmas party was at Kirin and they had two tables. Bothe served a 16... yes 16 course meal for $800.

See I like Market, and at best that'd likely be a one star if even. The decor definitely outshines the service, but it also depends. I've had great service with this one older chinese lady, very attentive and professional. Other times, it's just meh, nothing to complain about but nothing to write home about either.

Food is usually good too but hit or miss with certain dishes, they're having turnover at the exec/sous levels so probably the same problems that West faces.

i think that's my point.
having these star ratings mean jack all when there's a rotation in cooks and whatnot. so why bother?

i guess i never understood the whole point of fine dining. seems like a waste of money to me. like i said in an earlier post, it all smells the same coming out. why not spend the money on something that lasts longer than the few hours to takes to digest?

No, most established restaurants that are highly rated usually have the same executive chef and/or owner who can maintain the same standards.

Good food is good food, whether it's "fine" dining or not. With your line of thought, why do you even bother to eat anything then? Just suck down protein shakes and vitamins and be done with it.

I'm much less of an experience guy, and more of a taste guy.
If i wanted a 3 star experience, find me a place with a good steak that lets me wank while i eat lol
