My new favourite way to have eggs... eggs in a basket (or eggs in the hole)

It's just a fried egg on toast?
Isn't that sorta like how french toast works? I actually don't know, as I can't stand french toast.

I saw this on V for Vendetta, and that's what I thought too.. that it was just egg on a toast. I tried cooking it like that before, but it never worked out.
It's actually just tearing a hole in the centre of the bread, buttering up the pan, put the toast on the pan, and crack the egg into the hole of the bread.

French toast is soaking up the bread in beaten eggs, then frying it.

i saw on a food show the real way to scramble eggs is not to add milk to get it creamier, but just use to butter and then egg. and not cook it through completely.

It does taste different than eating it separate. Maybe its the way the bread is toasted on a pan, or maybe it's because the egg is slightly infused with the bread.

Haha the guy's doing it wrong overly complicated.

Cut/rip hole in bread (no need to butter the bread)
Medium heat
Melt butter in the pan
Put bread on pan
Crack egg into hole
Flip when egg turns white a bit
Take off when cooked to your liking.

isn't that exactly how he did it? i think buttering the bread first soaks a bit more butter into it. if you're using that awesome chinese bread found at t&t, it'd be delish.

if you flip it early, it'd be hell, right?

So I tried making the eggs in a basket today, and I wasn't too impressed. Likely it's because I suck at cooking, but I thought maybe the egg flavour would transfer to the bread or something. It's probably be better to just fry an egg and put it on a piece of toast. (And easier)

I personally think it's better than frying an egg and just putting it on a toast. I think it's the way the bread is toasted on the pan.

Anyway, I didn't say it was some groundbreakingly delicious gourmet delight. I just found it better than just putting an egg on a toast.
