Looking for a decent red wine to give as a gift. I don't really drink the stuff so I don't know what's good. What I do know is that they like Red Diamond Merlot. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like it is available in Canada.

Any recommendations? If it helps, they seem to like the sweeter stuff.

hey jai, you have any good 2008 wines you can sell me that need to be kept for another 15-25 yrs before uncorking? i'm thinking of keeping it for hayden's graduation or wedding day type thing... and next year when you go to the crazy Bordeaux release thing at BC liquors, wanna pick me up a 2011 bottle of something for Ellie? haha

i think they don't release them for sale until it's ready for the public. some of these nicer wines takes a while to age before they're ready

that's why when you go to the liquor store to buy a bottle of wine, you usually see 2010, or 2009 bottles.

oh i guess that makes sense.

I think the year on the label is the year they make the wine. They need to age in the wood barrels before being bottled.

oh, not like duncan didn't just say that or anything.
