see ppl talking on their phones all the time, especially the construction type guys.

it's even worse when they're texting cuz at least if you're talking, your eyes are still somewhat on the road, but i've seen so many people text while driving.. their eyes are literally looking down at their phone and not on the road... it's so insane

I've seen people talking on their cellphones while riding their bicycles. Are people that afraid of being alone?

That said, aren't we supposed to be considered innocent until proven guilty? If I'm driving along and some cop sees me scratching the side of my head is he going to pull me over, give me three demerits, fine me, and confiscate my phone... and possibly impound my car?

Besides, IMO I don't think the distracting part of this is holding the cellphone to your ear. It's the actual talking. You know how many people I've seen swerving around the road just 'cause they're talking to the person sitting next to them?

I can drive with one hand on the wheel without being distracted as I'm sure most people can. I drive a stick... kinda have to at times.

It's so super dependent on the the driver though. Not all drivers are created equal. I'm not trying to inflate my own self-esteem, but I can drive stick and text on my phone and still be better than some drivers who are concentrated on the road.

And on the other hand, not only are drivers not all equal, there are drivers who think they're better than they are. Those people are the most dangerous. They suck at driving, but they think they're good enough to talk on the cell phone at the same time.

There are the ones who do realize they're not great drivers though, like Joe who says he turns the steering wheel to the right if he's turning the volume up on the radio at the same time.

Even when not talking on the phone, some ppl still can't avoid parked buses.

Contrary to popular belief, people don't multitask well.

I still think that no matter how well or not you are capable of multitasking while driving, all people who have properly earned the right to legally drive should be required to give 100% of their attention to operating a 2ton+ piece of machinery. Really, It's just common sense. Something that has been eroded to almost nothingness now in our society of entitlement.

i've actually starting pulling over to text. i admit i don't do it often (pulling over), but i've also curbed my texting while driving down significantly.

the turning left thing was about talking, not texting. i never really got the chance to test out that theory, but it sounded interesting.

i don't get "she can tell you where her purse is". because the driver was looking through her purse?
reminds me of that pic from a while back of an old lady blowing the cross walk. you see the guy getting hit and the lady still is oblivious to what's going on.
