apparently the kindle fire is so useless outside of the states, that it's hard to get it outside of the states.

anyway, it looks like we're going to wait for the ipad mini to drop in october. probably the best solution (seeing as how all her books in are ibook now anyway).

iPad Mini is still just a rumour! Apple was sourcing 7" LCD screens from suppliers, but it doesn't necessarily mean they're for a iPad Mini. It could be true, but who knows with Apple these days.

hm, the last article i read on imore said that it was for certain. now a quick google search says that it's still in rumour stages. those bastards.

either case, the kobo vox looks like a piece of crap. we probably won't be getting that anyway.

Nobody really knows until the actual Apple media announcement. Look at what happened with the iPhone 5/4s.

yeah, i was talking about the vox. i'll check to see if bb/fs has that folio too. still, not sure if that thing is worth $20.

i just checked best buy's site to see if it has that folio thing (it doesn't), and i got to reading the reviews. there are a lot of unhappy customers out there haha.

too bad the ipad is so dang huge, or it'd be a no brainer. back to the drawing board.

You can always get that kindle with Android, and then hack android so you become a US user. That's what I did with my Android tablet, and with my Kindle app, I can buy all their books.

can you do that? because there's a cloud feature that you can only access from american ip's i thought. buying the books isn't that much of a problem as much as everything else.

oh yeah, i forgot to mention that i went to chapters the other day to try out the vox. it's a festering piece of crap. super laggy and unresponsive, even the book ui sucked, and you're mostly just staring at text. do not want.

I think it's account and device based. My tablet was a Canadian tablet, and it wouldn't let me create an account on Amazon US. After I hacked it and turned it into a US tablet, I was able to create a US account and access their cloud server.

I don't see the benefit of reading a book from the cloud though. Ebooks aren't big, and you have lots of on board memory anyway, so why not download it to your tablet?
