although you can, doesn't mean you will. i think you're more the exception than the rule.
even those with multiple monitors will mostly be set up in landscape, because most things are designed that way and it just makes it easier to do stuff.

the only time i've really seen monitors set up in permanent portrait mode is in hospitals when they exclusively display lists of names, and that is all. every other monitor in the hospital is in landscape.

either case, i'm not saying you can't do stuff in portrait, but i'm used to and prefer landscape as i gather much of the rest of the world is. in fact, i can recall a video posted on how we shouldn't take video with our phones in portrait lol.

I don't think anyone is saying that protrait mode is preferred... I think they're just saying portrait mode is good for some things. I'm sure the consensus will be that everyone here prefers landscape for most things.

lol... i'm not any one supporter.. to be honest, i don't know why people are making such a big deal about it. flipping flip it however you want it to be... who cares how it was "designed" to be. It works fine both ways. So easy to flip it to whichever way you want to use it for whatever app you're running. i even said i prefer landscape myself... What's next, how about lets argue about how the ipad comes in white and it's so awesome that it does and it owns j00... i think people nit pick too much. Like someone said once before, find what works for you... it's not about trashing the other brands or designs...

and wtff... i didn't even talk about bb or apple... i just want info on the nexus 10!!!

I'm not 100% familiar with the iPad, but I think it might have something to do with the iOS. They don't have a special OS just for tablets, whereas Android does, which is why their tablets are in landscape. I think it's the same for Playbook too.. BB has a separate OS just for tablets.

Apple was lazy maybe, or they wanted to keep a similar look between the phone and the tablet. They probably figured that, like Duncan said, it's not a big deal if the OS is in portrait because you can just flip it around whenever you want.

I flip my tablet around all the time between protrait and landscape... It's pretty easy and the tablet being in landscape mode as a default doesn't add or detract from its usefulness.

i believe even iOS is one os for both ipad and iphone, i think they optimize it for each platform. There parts of ios that is specific for just the ipad and parts for just iphone. not much of a diff than had they separated it to like iOSpad and iOSphone. The core would be the same, just splitting out the specifics which is probably what the other OS's do if they have separate OS's for phones and tablets.

the ipad can run its homescreen in landscape, which winnie's probably is around 90% of the time, but the iphone can't right? that's a big difference i think.
