in response to the severance question, dunc was correct, i am losing out on it. 12 weeks worth. i factored that when i decide on both opportunities. i guess i really had 3 choices, either take one of these 2 jobs or stick around until the end to collect my severance.

just on financial perspective, given i am able to complete at least a year of work at either job, i would still come out ahead if i left now, then if i stayed and worked here for another 6 months and collected my severance.

yeah, it'd probably be silly to stay just for that severance. however, 12 weeks off sounds pretty nice. you'd still get paid out your holiday pay though, wouldn't you?

It's 12 weeks worth of pay, or 6 paychecks. He can work right away after collecting it if he wanted, so that'd be like double pay for 12 weeks.

I'm assuming the 2 job offers are limited time offers though, and Accenture isn't going to lay him off until next year, so the timing doesn't quite work.

i gave my notice on friday last week. i did get a sense of relief after doing it. just getting that part over with and knowing i am committed to this new job opportunity.

after talking with mike, i am feeling more hesitant about it. he basically said i only save money if i leave the money within the incorporation.

i am not sure if this consulting thing will be short or long term for me, so the extra hassel of setting up the incorporation for only a single year might not be worth it.

I was going to talk to Kitty about it since she's an accountant and get her take.
