bluetooth headsets, use or not?

i have one, but i hardly use it. i'm not driving long enough to get any calls really. but if i do, i don't have time to turn it on and stick it in my ear so i just pick up my phone.

do you guys leave it in your ear all the time or just don't bother?

if i know i'm going to be on the phone, or at least on a long drive i'll leave it turned on but not in my ear. it's not very comfortable for more than 15min at a time

I don't like leaving the bt in my ear, but I would use it while I'm driving if I had a call.

My new car has bluetooth built into the stereo system. It's friggin awesome, I don't have to use my headset anymore.

How hard is it to activate, but leave your headset in the ashtray / sunglass holder / cup holder / whatever and just put it in when the phone rings? Takes me less than a second to grab it from the ashtray, put it in my ear and answer the call.

I didn't have anywhere in my WRX to put it where it wouldn't roll around and possibly fall down into the foot wells.

i have it in my ashtray, but not once did i remember to turn it on when i got into the car. except for that one time and then i forgot to turn it off.
my commute is less than 10 minutes each way, i don't anticipate many calls in that time frame.

you don't need to turn it on when you get in though.. you can turn it on when you get the call... i usually pick up and say hold on 1 sec and i turn on the headset and pop it into my ear.. takes 5 secs...

that being said, integrated bt in car stereos are pretty sweet.. i don't have one, but it's something i'll look for when we eventually get a new car

i think it's pretty standard in most vehicles now. we got one in the mazda but i don't have one in the golf because it's actually the lowest trim model. but the gti's and the higher model golf's have them.

i've tried to turn it on when i get a call but it isn't as quick as 5 seconds. probably closer to 10.

ok, then 10 seconds... either way, that 10 seconds could save your life.. or at the very least, save you from paying a $100 ticket if the cop beside you sees you holding your phone

Finally. I hope this passes. I think that losing her phone is the only way that I'm going to get through to my wife on this.

Wow, it's been 3 years since that law passed already?

It's outrageous how many people I see so blatantly talking on their phone while driving. The police have it easy too. They just have to set up at an intersection and wait for a red-light. They do it at the intersection near my place and they catch someone at every red light.
