7mbps or 50mbps?

hey i am juggling between two different shaw packages tv/internet bundles right now and wanted some feedback
currently i have:
high speed (7.5 mbps)
basic cable
hd plus (tsn 2, sportsnet, a&e, disc, show, tlc, cw, ea, amc, movietime)
which costs me 98.86 a month before taxes.
considering switching to:
broadband 50 (50 mbps)
personal tv (food)
for 84.90
which would you rather have? why?

I don't download so, I've never really seen the benefits of having more than 5mbps.

even though i d/l crap, i have to say you don't need much more than 7.5mbps unless you're super impatient. Plus, even if you have 50mbps, there's no guarantee that the source you're d/ling from can support speeds that high.
anyways, that being said, i'd choose option one because HD sports > food... not by much, but it does...

well food is not really for me. and the only real sports channel i watch is maybe tsn2 occasion if they have 2 games playing at once. sometimes i watch the other channels, but mostly it's for shows joyce watches that are easily d/l like cakeboss, next great baker, yes to the dress, etc...
lol or for 94.90 i could get 100 mbps ... drool....
the bandwidth issues for me is mainly for d/ling games. when i d/l them off my online library it can take a few hours since games are now typically 5+ GB.

why not just get 100 mps, cancel cable and watch tv off the internetz?
wasn't that your original plan anyway?

if you want cheaper, then go with telus optik... but be forewarned, it's not as good as shaw... but it does have it's pros... like for example, it's cheaper haha... plus the guide ui is a lot nicer. BUT, you have to contract up with them for 3 yrs...

if you're looking to shave some bills i'd start with cancelling sports if you can live without it.

it might be cheaper to not have the sports packages on tv and just subscribe to nhl centre ice... well, unless you like to watch all the other programs on tsn, sn, etc...

no it isn't... you said to just cancel the sports package if he can live w/o it... i'm saying he can can the sports package and subscribe to nhl centre ice to watch the games because no sports = not living at all haha
