i'm tired. really tired. i used to keep a flat of redbull by my desk until some of the members saw the piles of cans in the recycling and told me to stop. they then started forwarding me websites warning people of the dangers of energy drinks specifically redbull.

but the thing is that i hate coffee. it tastes gross. should i just learn to drink coffee or sneak a redbull here and there?

You need to slowly increase your metabolism rate.... just keep up the cycling, you'll be amazed at how your energy level will continue to climb... that and stop eating fast food for lunch everyday.

Red Bull and coffee are never a good solution for chronic tiredness

the weird thing is that it isn't chronic, it's only during the day lol.
at night i'm energetic to heck. that's why i always have trouble sleeping at night.

and i actually starting bringing lunch now. well, winnie's been making them for me. beats making it myself i guess. and i get more work done without having to take a half hour to grab some food.

caffeine pills don't work for me anymore. i used to pop them like crazy during bible college and i could fall asleep (and stay asleep) right after i take them.

I'd try weaning myself off of it. 'It' being caffeine. You don't really want to be dependant/addicted to it do you?

and i'm pretty sure that i'm not addicted to caffeine, i've gone months without any redbull, tea or anything of the sort. there are just times (kinda like now) when i have to be at work a little earlier than i like and i don't have enough sleep and could just use a little something to wake me up.

it sucks, when i was in high school/bible college i could run on 3-4 hours of sleep a night for weeks before i crash. now i can barely make one day with that and not feel sluggish.

being up and about helps... if you feel sluggish, go for a brisk 10 min walk around the neighbourhood.. you'll probably feel a lot more awake then... that's probably why you think you're only tired during the day... you're sitting at your desk pwing and reading/researching/writing when you're up and about at home at night chasing ryan around or what not

Have you tried sleep conditioning yourself? Sleeping regular hours really helps your up and down swings of tiredness.

Starting sleep conditioning is pretty tough, but once you get into the rhythm of it, it's awesome.

i think in a way you've sleep trained yourself to be in the schedule you are in now. You probably got used to being a night owl since you were a kid and because the world didn't revolve around you when you were a kid, you got used to being tired at school because of the lack of sleep at night. then at home or whatever you did afterschool, you got to do what you wanted to so you didn't have any problem being awake.

at the same time, like most of us, you probably stayed up in post secondary doing papers or studying or what not (having fun with your new found freedom), and went to school sleep deprived.

probably a vicious cycle of staying up and trying to start the day during normal hours like the rest of the world

i'm not saying this to take a poke at you or anything... just thinking out loud considering what you've said in the past about you being a night owl and staying up as a family growing up. Nothing wrong with being a night owl, but the human body is still a human body... don't sleep enough -> get tired... don't eat -> get hungry... don't poop -> get constipated
