mail in rebates are a ploy to make you think you're saving money but i think 50% or more of the consumers who buy a product with a MIR will eventually forget about it or be too lazy to send in the form so they never save anyways.
It's done via snail mail for that reason, it's a hassle so people don't bother, but they still buy the product because they're like OUuUuU $5 off from the MIR!!
