You can't with shaw because they are in the stone age. As for your work one, you need to find out who the admin is on the account and ask them to migrate you over. It's as easy as a few clicks from the admin's control panel. You'd need to remap it all on all your clent devices though.

not exactly. my shaw account is my main, but it's forwarded to an alternate address that i can check at work, so i'd have to check both at home (real shaw account) and at work (shaw email forwarded to another account). and my work emails are checked and downloaded at work, at home there are only the odd ones that i get when i'm not in the office.

so really, we're talking a difference of about 4-5 clicks a week. i guess it'd help with the emails on my phone though.

you don't have to delete your email to work with imap i think... the server is just the server, the pop or imap protocols are just protocols for pulling/pushing emails... you should be able to use imap w/o deleting your acct on the server.. or at least that's what i did with telus. maybe jai's right and shaw is ancient and you have to delete to start an imap account but i don't think that's the case. You'll definitely have to delete your local account on your computer or phone and recreate it on the device, but shouldn't have to do it on the server.

i suppose if your amazing bb system has it synced up for you, you don't need to haha... but it could be something worth considering when setting up new devices in the future... instead of selecting pop or whatever protocol you use, imap is a good way to go

yeah i guess. i don't think i can delete my shaw account anyway. i've had it for years and i think it's coming from my mom's account.
well, i could delete it i guess, but i don't know if it'd be able to set it up again.

maybe i'll just poke around and see if i can figure it out.

i just thought of something. could i seemlessly "disguise" a gmail account into my shaw account (so i don't have to get everyone to change my email address)?

like, have all my shaw emails forwarded to an imap'ed gmail account and have my gmail account set up to sent out with my shaw account as its return address? that's what i do with my second work account so i can check my shaw mail at work.

If you're using Outlook, when you reply to any of your emails, regardless of where it's from, you can switch the "From" field to your Shaw account or whichever account you want that's set up in your Outlook.

yeah, i figured that i was asking a stupid question since i'm already doing that with my work email. i could just set it up so i get my work email at home too.

it's a weird thing that i'm doing because shaw can only be checked from shaw's internet (except if you're checking from your phone), so otherwise i wouldn't been able to check my personal emails at work.
