Seriously...
1) Read the error message.
2) Google is your friend.

I get asked a whole bunch of computer questions at work because I'm the engineer. I'm not even an IT guy. Of course, they assume that I can fix any and all technical problems. On top of that, I'm supposed to speak Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean, etc.
My mom thinks I should know how to fix cars, re-wire electrical outlets, fix lawn mowers b/c I'm an engineer.
My wife thinks I'm a handyman/jack of all trades. Plus if it's not working, it's automatically broken.
wife: The dishwasher is broken (leaking). The sink is broken (plugged). The hot water boiler and the washing machine isn't working.
Me: Umm..did you check to see if anything is plugging it?
wife: No.
Me: Did you try any Liquid Plumber or a plunger?
Wife: No.
Me: Did you check the fuse box?
wife: where's the fuse box?
Me: in the kitchen downstairs at the back.
wife: It's gross down there b/c of the bugs. I hate going down there.
Me: So do you want to check it?
Wife: No.
After I fix all the problems:
Me: Everything is working now.
wife: Okay thanks! But we need a new house. Everything is breaking down.
The retarded thing is that if I don't fix the problem, they look at me like I'm a moron and that I ought to know how to fix the problem.
Me: "Umm...I didn't set up your computer."
Them: "Nevermind, I'll ask *so and so* to help me fix it."

i hate being the "computer guy"
you should hear alicia's mom's ignorance. I often hear things like "you work with computers, can't you fix it?"... every motherfu..ing person works with computers these days... f u
wtf... Hey, you drive a car, can't you take apart my engine and rebuild it so you can find out what's wrong with it?
somehow i've gained some reputation that i can fix computers with family and some circles of friends... when i moved out, my dad used to call me to ask me about his computer even when KEIAN still lived at home... wtf?!
i wish i played dumb from the get go and never fixed anyone's computer.
I wish alicia didn't download stupid malware infested games.
I wish i didn't have to install 5 different av's and firewalls to protect me from other users of my computer.

i'd rather my wife come to me when she has a problem then spend a 100+ bucks at a store or geek squad etc... to repair her computer whenever she has a problem.
if i could fix her car when it broke down, i'd do that too. but i can't.
almost all corporate IT work is unrelated to home computer repair... but most the people on this forum are pretty tech savvy or tech aficionados and know what is what or have been around computers for a long enough time, that they could take a part and reassemble a computer and format and reinstall an OS/drivers/software.
Basically that qualifies you to fix about 95% of computer problems. The other 5% of problems involves the person buying a new computer/part.

oh, don't get me wrong, i don't mind fixing the computer with alicia screws it up, but it's other people who've somehow volunteered my services because i'm a computer guy supposedly...
sometimes i'm tempted to give a quick look over and say "hmm... nope, can't fix it... you gotta buy yourself a new comp"
lol, i just remembered the pr0n i stumbled on when brendon asked me to try to recover his school paper on his corrupted hdd... as i was sifted through his files asking him which file it was, i came across some of his private stash and then there was an awkward silence lol...

Having to fix computers remotely over the telephone SUCKS... especially when the person you're trying to help gets their left and right mouse buttons mixed up.

That's scary.... that would mean Keian was 14 years old back then. Underage cross dressing.
