so i got owned in a different way on saturday. we had a youth bbq and because of space and weather issues, we had it at first lutheran in vancouver. i had to bring a portable bbq since they don't have one of their own, and we have two hibachis at grace from before we got an actual bbq donated to us.
anyway, for the first round of burgers and dogs, i closed the lid. bad idea. everything caught fire. a little charred, but it's ok. the second round of burgers i was really careful to keep the lid open and watch for those fires. but then those crazy kids wanted veggie dogs. freaking gross. i put them on the top rack and i actually forgot about them haha. they all burnt.
i hate hibachis.

Shao and I did a bbq lunch for the whole congregation last year with two hibachis. It turned out pretty darn good. We didn't burn a single thing, but then it took forever to cook stuff.

the hibachis sat for over a year, and i think cooking in an open space (more wind) helps. i was cooking in a smoke pit and was surrounded either by walls or a church.
i should have just put the veggie dogs in the microwave, that would have been easier and would have been just as good (i mean disgusting).

Is a veggie dog the same as a tofu dog?

cook the hotdogs in a pot of boiling water, so much easier.

not easier than a microwave.
