I dropped my phone into water.. Like fully submerged. My screen got all fuzzy and green, and the speaker sounded waterlogged, like something out if a cartoon.

wait, in water? like toilet water? will telus give you a new phone or are you sol? i have a slightly used blackberry 9900 that you can use in the meantime...

It was actually dishwater.. But I think I may have fished it out in time. I dried it, turned it off and dried it some more.. Now everything seems to be working fine. The water contact indicator changed to red though so my warranty is void. Not that it matters, I've claimed warranty probay twice in my entire life and it wasn't for any cell phone.

Anyway, yeah.. I've been keeping my phone in a bag of rice just in case.

i remember reading that you shouldn't turn it on for like a day or something.
but if you already did and it works fine, then i think you're good to go.

I read 48 hours.. Or else you risk the logic board frying.

I was looking at the case structure of the iphone though and it looks pretty near waterproof. There are two holes for the charger and the headphone jack, and there are the speaker/mic holes. Not many places for water to get in, so hopefully it's minimal seepage.

how long was it in there for? i think that plays a pretty big role too.

Maybe 5 seconds or less? I can't really say because as I dropped it, my hand followed its fall as I was trying to catch it before it hit the water and as it went into the water. Actually, probably more like 3 seconds because my hand grasped it just as it hit the bottom.

I think you're over estimating how long a second is. If you caught it before it hit the bottom or shortly after, then that's probably less than a second.

Yeah, it's tough to judge time when you're panicked.
