Alright, I have to ask... what's wrong with Uncle Ben's rice? As kids we grew up on Uncle Ben's, and though I don't buy it anymore, to me it's pretty much the same thing... kinda meh. I mean, it's just rice. Am I missing something?

this is actually an old joke that was put into poorly drawn comic format.

and to a chinese person (or any other person who grew up eating rooster brand rice), uncle ben's rice does taste different. i'm not sure why, but it does.

Uncle Ben's processes the rice differently. It's called parboiled rice.

not to mention it's just plain gross... i remember having uncle ben's rice for the first time in my teens and i couldn't stomach eating more than a few bites. Mind you my parents buy japanese rice (which is usually a little softer and sweeter than your usual chinese rice) so it was a pretty big gap in quality/taste

isn't uncle ben's rice like an instant rice or something? i never made it myself. nor have i ever eaten large or even normal portions of it (to my knowledge). i just know rice from different sources taste different.

much like how other white stuff from different sources taste different. you know, just in general.
