after you plugged in the shaw box i lent you, how long did it take for shaw to disconnect it from the theme packages that were previously subscribed on the box and reconnect it to the ones you were actually paying for?

On the weekend, I plugged in the box i lent you and it's showing programs that you had/have and not programs I'm paying for. Too lazy to call shaw to fix it so i thought i'd wait it out.

you can reset it by unplugging it and plugging it back in, but the programming has something to do with the communication of the box and shaw's end. It takes a while for shaw to realise that the box is at a different location. I think there's some sorta internal cache that caches the programming packages on the box.

yup it is... people have posted saying that they've taken their shaw box to a friend's house and they can watch everything they subscribe to at their friend's house for a day lol... i think the way they have it set up is that it's not a synchronous connection. The shaw line feeds programming to the box one way, and the box just receives signal. Periodically there's probably some audit checks that are done so that's why it takes a few days for the programming to sync. the box doesn't communicate to shaw home base unless you're doing stuff like shaw on demand or ordering ppv...

anyways, it seems like shaw figured it out so i have my programs now.

you should talk to shaw. you get a free rental of the gateway box and 2 receiver units if you get a bundle with internet/tv/phone. if not, then anywhere from $137-500 based on bb.
