no one really saw the video up until last saturday. when i first saw it, there were only like around 300 hits. my youth's youth gathering videos have about 300 hits.

so i wouldn't say that the school knows about this video. but i'm sure they do now.

as a caveat to what i'm going to say, i'm not downing the kid or the video, just thinking out loud...

if it were me, it's kinda a lose lose to post this video and have it go viral... on one hand, you'd never know if people are your friends just because they pity you or because they're your real friends... i mean, they could be nice to you just because they don't want you to cut yourself... and on the other hand, putting a video out like this sometimes can promote more bullying from even bigger jerks... there are always losers out there who wouldn't hesitate to use a video like this as ammunition against you... "hey loser, why don't you just cut yourself harder and get it over with"...

however, it may have been a bad thing for him, but i think for a plethora of other people the video provides hope.

maybe people are just afraid of bullying him now, because who wants to be known as the bully who bullied this kid now? he's famous.

like that big russian kid that slammed that little skinny kid a year or so ago.

that was pretty epic.

i don't know if the vid is real or not, but bullying is and seems to be in the spot light more and more now. i don't know if it's because of the interwebs but we seem to hear about it a lot more than i remember it happening when i was that age.

I think people started becoming more aware of the bullying in schools when they started bringing guns to their schools and going on a shooting spree.

I doubt it... but maybe the traditional "bullies" that you used to know have evolved into something different.

Bullies aren't just like the Nelson from Simpsons type bullies anymore. You don't necessarily get shoved into lockers or get your lunch money stolen.
Bullies come in all forms, so it's tough to single out any one bully. Some bullies might not even know that they're bullies.

We see it all the time... especially in situations where mob mentality rules. Someone starts calling some kid "faggot", then everyone laughs, then more and more people start calling that kid "faggot". Would you call everyone who joined in the name calling a "bully"? I wouldn't, but that doesn't mean they didn't bully that kid, if only for that one second.

That's why it's so hard to weed out bullies. They're not clearly defined.

i think i'd call everyone who called the kid a faggot a bully... if you bullied that kid, then you're a bully... i think that's the whole point of all the anti-bully campaigns... to raise awareness that anyone can bully and if you do then you're a bully
