i don't understand how anyone could not think that this guy shooting up a school isn't a gun problem. how could he have shot up a school if he didn't have a gun? then they say that he could have gotten it illegally. how can a crazy kid without a criminal record get a gun illegally? he probably didn't have any gang connections.

The problem is, there are criminals who you don't know are criminals, first time offenders, people with no criminal ties or records like the Connecticut shooter... How are you going to lock those people up BEFORE they kill?

No no, guns don't kill people.. Crazy people with 47 guns and $100,000 worth of ammunition kill as many people as they can.

mental illness is one thing, but we can't deny that gun control is another.
will all people with guns kill people? no.
will all people with mental illness kill people? no.
will all people with mental illness with guns kill people? i sure as heck don't want to take that chance.

Gun control is an easy first step. Dealing with mental illness is much more difficult.

My aunt and uncle have taken upon themselves to care for the mentally challenged/ill. They've had them (one at a time) live with them for ... two decades(?). Some have been violent. It's something that you'd definitely need to be called to do.

^ Agreed. Coleen's Parents are both Psych Nurses by education and they ran a halfway home for years. Scary stuff

for sure it'll need to go beyond just gun control. but what i don't understand is how people can't see it as related.

yeah, i read that yesterday. claims to have brought it for protection, but was showing it off during lunch time.

what better way to protect yourself than you flaunt what you have for potential attackers to make you a challenge?

The next guy will have 2 guns, then the only way to protect himself then would be to have 3 guns.

I think that's what those gun activists were saying about needing more guns to better protect themselves.
