I guess it doesn't really matter if you call them all bullies or not... the point is, a bully is not a singular person anymore. It's more like an infectious disease.

i think gordon hit the nail on the head. it's hard to weed it out because what is "joking" and what isn't?

do i care if duncan keeps saying that blackberry sucks even though he doesn't know a lick about them besides what the one-sided sensationalised media tells him? no, i don't. but people could see that as a form of bullying as i'm the only one really here that uses a blackberry and it's obviously about duncan's obsession to put me down and also about him yanking off to his iphone.

in that above statement i was being purposely harsh to display how easy it is to "bully" without seeming like it. we can chalk it up to "humour" and the like, but you never really know what's going on under the hood.

i know i'm guilty of this too. remember that time dez told everyone that he was feeling bad about people making fun of him all the time? and he listed me as one of them. that was harsh man, because i honestly was just joking around with him, i never knew he felt bullied by me.

That's exactly true too - it's tough to gauge when someone takes something seriously. It's obvious in a lot of cases though, but you also get caught up in the moment. In school, it's especially harsh because you're struggling so hard to fit in and not get picked on yourself, so you just go with the flow. There are cases where the victims take opportunities to bully others to take the emphasis off themselves. It's kind of like a sigh of relief for them because it's finally not about them, and they'll do anything they can to direct the attention elsewhere.

Bullying is such a complex beast. I wish there was something that I could do to help.

yeah, i would say that in my school experience i was both bullied and bullied others. but it's hard for me to say which came first, but i'd imagine that i felt bullied first. i think it's hard for people to admit that they've been bullied too because then it sounds like they're weak or unpopular, which makes this video a little more remarkable because this kid was pretty brave to tell the world what he was going through.

i think a lot of kids are more aware these days about bullying which is a good step.. back in the day, bullying was just a way of life... nobody really looked at you and said, HEY! STOP THAT... YOU'RE BEING A BULLY... i dunno if kids are saying that these days, but i think the awareness that these videos or social media brings is a good start. Before, nobody really even knew they were being a bully
