that could be true i guess, however i don't like the idea of spending top dollar just because the glass has no frame and is then prone to break.

i'm not saying that apple doesn't make quality stuff, i'm just saying that it sounds to me like they're wasting money on putting effort into things like frameless glass when i'm willing to bet that 90% of the users don't even notice the difference.

It's reported that RIM appoached Samsung with an offer to sell RIM to them.

I have to stress that I'm not saying anything bad about RIM with this news. I'm actually pretty interested in what happens to RIM as a company because they're a Canadian company that made such a huge global impact in spite of the Apple craze. It's just a bit sad to see them struggling.

Oh, and forgot to mention... Samsung declined the offer.

HP had previously tried to sell webOS to Samsung too, but they declined that offer as well. I heard that Koreans are pretty proud of all of their hugely successful companies (like Samsung, LG, Hyundai) that the Korean government is commissioning Samsung to create their own mobile OS to compete with Apple and Android. They apparently don't really like the idea of Samsung's success in the mobile space being attributed to the American made Android OS.

really? from what i read those were rumours. official statement from samsung is that there were no offers nor were there entertained offers, and rim wasn't looking for buyers.

but i could have read wrong i guess.

I was just re-reading the Engadget article... I think the rumour part is that Samsung was interested in the offer, but the offer itself from RIM was real.

meanwhile Google and MIT is releasing a program that allows to create apps for android. So who has the next million dollar app idea?
