Anyone know how to install hardwood/laminate floors?
I was thinking of installing hardwood because of the doggies.

Or know anyone that can do it for cheap?

my parents did their own laminate. looked easy enough. I'm sure you can google it and figure it out.

I guess the installation part looks easy enough, but it's just the cutting and measuring that I'm not entirely comfortable with.

Can recommend the guy that did my cork floors.

laminate is better than hardwood from what i remember. and i think you can order the floors precut. or not.

didn't the owner of this board just talk about having done something like a million different floors in the past with a chef? maybe ask him.

Avg is $1.5 to 2/sq ft. Depending if it's laminate or HW. I think there's ppl on craigslist that does it for $0.75/sq feet.

yeah, he did like inhee's floors right before christmas or something.

Guy we used was $2 per sq/ft, but that also includes disposal, etc. which I'm sure most installers would but who knows?

In any case, he was great and we're happy. Although I am sure you can find cheaper elsewhere, key thing is to be happy with the flooring you want. Come check out my place whenever you want, we've got cork. Softer and warmer on your feet and Nolan doesn't do any damage to the floors. Not to mention cork is also antimicrobial and "heals" itself from small nicks and such.

i helped my dad do our kitchen and living room in laminate and carson and i did Jaymes' bedroom in laminate in the summer. it's pretty easy G. measure, cut and it just snaps in place. just remember to offset a little otherwise you will have a seam that runs down your whole room.

jairo did his whole house in laminate a couple summers ago too. it really isn't that bad.

you'll also have to remove your moulding and the re-attach it afterwards
you'll still need a circular saw or table saw (or at least a jigsaw) to cut the laminate/flooring pieces not tools everyone has handy... i guess you could use a manual saw if you want take a month to finish...

the cutting is probably going to be the trickiest part. like tys said the rest is not too bad.

It's the cutting and moulding parts that worry me.. I'm sure I can figure it out though but at the same time I kind of don't want to because I don't want to bother.
