Someone needs to get this for their garage, or new carport like Nat.

dude i've been wanting one of those things since i could walk man. the problem is you need some serious clearance in your garage, and i don't think they're weather proof i can't leave it outside.
there was a guy i think on the porsche forums that had one in his heated garage/man space. it had hardwood floors, a pool table and a full work bench. bad ass.

Just don't lift your car up so high, just enough so you can sit under it would work. Saw pics of people installing it in regular garages. They can get a stool under and work on their cars. It's also portable, so you can move it out when you need it and back indoors when your done.

portable? don't you need to bolt it down for leverage?

HAHA i just relooked at the link, that doesn't look safe at all.
what's to stop the car from tipping either way? those posts look pretty narrow. i'm scared enough to crawl under my car with a widowmaker jack but i'd be terrified to get under this thing.

I'm confused as to how this set up actually works... what is keeping the 2 posts from collapsing forward into the car from the weight?

You bolt it down. So you would need to drill holes where u want it fixed.

What's the point in having a portable lift anyway? Would it make it easier to change a flat?

if it's portable then you can lend it to your friends.
or rent it.
profit.
repeat.
but if it's not then it's a cheap hoist. it'd be a lot easier to change from winters to summers, i just did that a few days ago and it took me like an hour. no hubcentric rings ftl. took me for freaking ever.
