Guess what, i asked alicia's mom for the service history receipts for the jetta from the beginning. Looks like the timing belt was never replaced and the jetta's got 150k km on it already... lol.. i think i gotta get some major servicing done on it

the timing belt on the 2.0 could go 150k. but it probably should have been done at around 120 lol.
make sure you get the water pump and propeller done at the same time. if you want, i can refer you to my shop just on willingdon before brentwood. if you go on my referral i get 10% of your work off my next service...sweet.

the guy there does awesome work. used to work for hot water which was the shiznit back in the day. i think it's like $90 an hour (which is like $40 less than the dealer).

I usually go get my car serviced at P&D Automotive on Renfew and 22nd. Pretty cheap and the owner is a pretty honest guy. I think alicia's dad knows him too.

I checked the service notes and the pump was changed at 70k because the stock one was faulty. How often should the water pump be changed too? i was gonna do them both together anyways but if i don't have to do the pump i might as well leave it

Should probably get the water pump changed anyway... if you're already getting the timing belt changed, then changing the water pump costs minimal.

since everything is off, the actual price of changing it makes it completely worth it rather than having it go and paying just to replace it again (oem uses lame plastic parts, but if you got it done on a recall it might have been upgraded to the metal). it's too bad they didn't change the belt at 70k.

the car has a rattling sound at certain rpms too. Pretty annoying. I have a feeling i'll be spending $500-$800 on this overhaul. booruns. I'd rather put that money towards vegas haha

where is the rattling coming from? it could be a minor thing like corrosion on one of the hangers. but it also could be a major thing, like corrosion in one of the rods lol.

in which case, save the money for vegas and/or a new car.

lol... yea, dealerships are over priced but they say you have to do your services with them (or i guess mr. lube but that's an even bigger rip off) or else you lose your warranty.

but yea, so want (maybe even need) a new car... bleh, but buying a house is so close i can almost taste it. Can't deviate from the bigger picture.

i keep hearing stuff like housing market will crash in vancouver... makes me scared that my house could drop below my mortgage value.

Yeah, I saw that in the newspaper recently too. A housing cost correction should be coming soon, and each time we have one, it usually drops 20%.

i should go sell my place and live at home until the crash comes. then go house shopping.
