they just need to get back to work. people aren't getting their bills, welfare checks, and some people aren't even legally married lol (guess who).
i don't appreciate my convenience being used as leverage to get an extra day off per year.

If they're striking for a reason, then I can accept it, but if they're only on strike so the union can say, "see, this is what we fought for you. This is why you pay us the big union fees... a 0.1% raise over 5 years", then I say send them back to work. (Note, I don't really know why they were on strike... I just made up those numbers... but you get the point.)

i guess they're back to work tomorrow.
winnie and i had a discussion about strikes and such this morning. i was saying that if they're deemed as an essential service (which at this point in time i say they are, seeing as how danny and lily still aren't legally married yet), that they should go back to work (along with the ambulance drivers, the garbage pick-up crew, the firemen, etc) and stop using our convenience and livelihood (in some cases) as leverage for their own gain. winnie's argument was that they have a right to strike, and the government took that away from them.
i personally have never been a fan of unions or striking. if you're only hurting your employer, then maybe i don't care as much. but when you take away a service from so many people, that's just selfish. it's not our fault your job sucks. don't punish us for it. if you don't like it, get a new job.

also probably important to note for this situation. the postal employees were on a rotating strike, then it was canada post locked out the union entirely.

Back in the old days when employees had to work in poor conditions and were mistreated, sure a union was good. But now most employers are trying to promote better working environments, and with the age of the internets where everything is said and posted, the days of the union are pretty much useless, unless the company is full of lazy ass ppl.
