i thought joel had a thread about this, but i couldn't find it.

anyway, can someone do something awesome? i've been looking for a program in which i can plug notes into and it'll play the music for me. i have a hymn book in front of me, and i want something where i can just punch in notes and how long they're played (so like c sustained or d# quarter note) and when i'm finished entering it all, it'll play the music.

i hate choosing these hymns and i have no idea how they sound. my piano skills aren't good enough for me to just site read them and get the general gist of the tune.

it would be BADASS if someone could do this. if not, then oh well.

pretty sure they have computer programs out there that do it..

probably have ones that you can take a picture (off your phone) of and it'll do everything for you. Some keywords to google would be "sheet music scanned convert midi"

nat i would check sourceforge.net, its a repository for source code of public programs. a lot of these also include the binaries and executable files for those not interested in tweaking the program at all.

I used to, and thought I still did, but apparently I deleted it. So... they do exist.

I just googled: "music composition software free"
and got http://musescore.org/

Name rings a bell. I think that's what I tried before.

I used a program like that before and found it to be a bit of a hassle to use.
Can't you just get Winnie to play stuff for you?

i could if she were at the office with me, but more often than not, she isn't.
