Who's got time to kill on Oct 1 and would like to make a buck or two or fifty?

The 2008 Bordeaux release is on that Saturday but unfortunately, I will still be on a plane that morning. I'll be back in the PM but by then all the wines that I collect will be gone.

What I need is for someone to show up at the Cambie and 38th liquor store around the 7:30am timeframe and get in line to buy the wines I want. The store won't open til 11:00, but the line up usually starts at around 5:00am. It's not a mad rush at opening as the more expensive one are limited to 1 or 3 bottles / person so they'll hand out a form about 30mins before they open for you to tick off those ones. There's only 4 or 5 from that list that I want for this year. There will be a few more that aren't a "pre order" so you will need to act quick to pick them up when the doors open, but I'll show you what they look like ahead of time and give you an idea of where they'll be placed in the store.

I can give you $$ ahead of time or you can just throw it on your cc and I'll cut you a check afterwards. Total bill will be around $1500.

i think there's a signature store closer to gordon's house so he doesn't have to drive to cambie... i think it's on north road and cambie... does he have to go to a specific signature store or do all the signature stores have the same stock?

Only the Cambie store carries the full selection of Bordeauxs.

So when I got there, I thought - "Who the heck is going to line up to buy wine?!? I'm gonna kill Jai if I'm the only person lining up there."

Connie texts me Friday night at 8pm and said she passed by and someone was setting up a tent outside the store... My first thought was, "Dammit. I'm not lining up any earlier than 6am".

I get there at 5:45am, and the tent was actually set up by the liquor store so the people lining up have somewhere to stand under.
I'm probably the 10th "group" in line, because people went to line up in groups, you know, friends that offered to keep them company in line and to help grab wine (thanks guys, I was forever alone).

There was a group in front of me that had maybe 5 people when I got there. 15 mins later, another 2 or 3 show up, but whatever, it happens. Another 15 mins later, 10 more people show up, wtf? Another 15 mins later, 10 more show up and now their group is like 20-25 and people behind them start to complain. Angers flared up and I was scared a fight was going to break out.

After hours of waiting, when we were let into the store, the line-up was probably around 150 people. It was nuts. More of a mad rush than any boxing day sale I've seen.

I get into the store and rush to grab wines. People were pushing everyone else and they were grabbing cases and cases at a time. I was looking at Jai's list and saw 1 or 2 of this and 6 of that and I'm starting to think to myself, "Crap, I wonder if he meant 1 or 2 or 6 CASES of wine... everyone else is grabbing cases, I feel cheap just grabbing individual bottles". Then I remembered Jai told me what the total dollar value should be, so it made more sense that he meant per bottle.

Anyway - that was quite the experience. I was on Global news on Saturday afternoon, by the way, if anyone for whatever reason happened to catch afternoon news from a second tier news provider.
