there's both good and bad aspects with it...
a) safer environment for drug use
b) but now the focus of this is keeping drug users safer, rather than focus on the root of the problem which is their drug abuse to begin with
so it's like treat the symptoms or treat the underlying cause? sure it's good to treat the symptoms but are you really helping the victim by doing that?

i think it's helpful. you can either have people shoot up and die/spread disease or people shoot up and live. fact is they're still shooting up.
i think the point is to extend their lives so they can live to clean up.

I thought they had programs to help addicts get clean too, like counselling and medical treatments.

i'm not sure about that, i think there are affiliates in which they can refer you to, but not actual in house or on site.
