what's the difference? i would rather it be a 5 because just re-releasing last year's model with a few tweaks is just lazy imho lol.

It's hardly a few tweaks actually... if you look at the live blog, you'll see that SIRI is freaking awesome.

This really is the first step towards a LCARS like device.

i actually don't care enough to actively follow a live blog about a phone, but what is siri and why is it so awesome?

i guess calling it a "4s" reminded me of the 3g and 3gs which from what i could tell was the same exact phone.

this "siri" sounds more like software than hardware to me... not that i know anything about smartphones though.

It is, but the guts of the 4s is a HUGE hardware upgrade. ( which was needed in order to run siri seamlessly without negatively affecting the rest of the phone experience) Anyone can program software to do voice recognition in a cluncky fashion, but from what I've seen so far, and from the limited experience on my current 4, Apple is waaaaaaaaaaay ahead of the game

yea, but using your analogy, in this case, it's like dropping in a v6 engine when the old engine was a 4 banger... granted the form factor is the same yea, but you're getting a newer and more powerful engine as well as interior upgrades. But i do agree, it's not worth upgrading, but alicia's still using my old 3g, and that thing might as well be a paper weight because io4 pretty much killed it's usefulness. it's worth the upgrade for lish from 3g to 4s, but not from my 4 to 4s...
